Metal Working: Stretching of Sheets

2014
Most materials undergo external forces, specifically throughout the metal forming process. For instance, in the case of forming metal sheets, many mechanical behaviors occur during stretch and deep drawing forming forces. This article investigates the tests and methods used to determine formability in materials, such as tensile testing and forming limit curve (FLC) method. In order to obtain the material characteristics values, anisotropy and strain hardening are calculated as well. Determining these values were straightforward to some extent, however, these outcomes were used in characterized non-low-carbon steel sheet. Specifically in the calculation of light-weight alloys and high-strength steel, the classification with n and r values tolerate only restricted assumptions concerning formability.
