Powder metallurgy's (P/M) reliability, toughness, cost savings and innovation excel in the winning entries of the 2003 International P/M Design Competition spansored by the Metal Powder Industries Federation, The winning parts function in demanding applications such as luxury SUV's, power tools, telecommunications, chemical processing, food canning, and off-shore oil and gas drilling, Made by conventional pressing and sintering, warm compaction, metal injection molding (MIM) and hot isostatic pressing (HIP), the winning parts replaced die castings, investment castings, forgings, cold headed and machined parts.
