The establishment of the method of multiplanar volume reconstruction for PET imaging

2003
Objective To estabolish the method of multiplanar volume reconstruction for PET imaging, including maximum intensity projection(MIP) and average intensity projection (AIP). Methods Dynamic 13N-NH 3 PET imaging was performed on 7 patients, and dynamic 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) PET imaging was done on 2 patients. The volume data of 13N-NH 3 and 18F-FDG PET imaging were inputed to PC computer by local area network. The primitive PET volume data were converted to 8 bit byte type, and scaled to the range of 0~255. The data coordinates were normalized by three-dimensional coordinate conversion, then the MIP and AIP were generated by projecting the 3D data using the method of parallel projections. Results The final software of the method of multiplanar volume reconstruction for PET imaging can be operated in PC computer. The MIP and AIP projections of the primitive PET volume data can be generated in any angles and in any directions. Conclusion The method of multiplanar volume reconstruction for PET imaging can display the direct and integral MIP or AIP projections of PET imaging, and it is especially useful in dynamic perfusion PET imaging.
