Technology and implementation of distributed busbar protection

Distributed busbar protection is now more and more popular because it can not only simplify secondary wiring and reduce cabinet area requirement but cater for substation automation request. Based on all existing technologies, a distributed busbar protection that is composed of central unit (CU) and bay unit (BU) is described. Current differential theory together with novel CT saturation method is used to implement this scheme. Local confirmation theory in BU makes this protection more reliable. Easy use and excellent selectivity can be achieved by advanced topology technique which provides friendly graphic user interface software.
