Most patients want accurate information. Anyway they often find out apprehensively the truth by non verbal signals or elsewhere by chance. Today it is respected that the patient is a selfdecisive individual. He alone is the „sultan of his existence“ who decides on the other action himself. Without truth one would deny him a change of his life draft. He threatens to be left alone. Some fear the social death more than the physical. For the doctor, it is extremely difficult to submit the patient bad than good news. Therefore the medical interviewing today is taught. The physician must be aware of the often serious communication problems. „Selective authenticity“ means: everything you say has to be right, but not everything that is true, you'll need to say.
