Wage rigidity, employment fluctuations and minimum wage policy – using a real options

There are two divergent perspectives on the effects of minimum wage on employment. This paper shows that the relationship between wages and employment is not the only factor that needs to be considered in policymaking. Our model implies that regions characterized by wage rigidity and employment fluctuations are not an appropriate environment for increased minimum wage.
