A teaching mode in Sino-US cooperation in higher education

Outcome-based education (OBE) concept originates from the engineering education accreditation (EEA) system, which is an important direction of engineering higher education reform. Since 2018, Sino-American cooperation between the major of Material Science and engineering in Changshu Institute of Technology (CIT-MSE) and the major of Material Science + engineering in the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire (UWEC-MSE) has been established, while both MSE majors are applying for the certification of EEA. In this research, a teaching mode of assessment at ordinary times (AOT) which focuses on the process assessment is established based on the OBE concept. Through the analysis of the actual operation of AOT mode in the course of “Material Science and Engineering”, students can get good achievement through the AOT mode, meanwhile, the AOT mode also reflects the concept of continuous improvement in the EEA system.
