Determination of Entrapment Efficiency for Chrysophanol Liposomes by Low-speed Centrifugation

Objective To establish a rapid and simple method of determining the encapsulation efficiency of chrysophanol liposomes.Methods Low-speed centrifugation method was applied to separate the free chrysophanol and liposomes,the free drugs and drugs entrapped in liposomes were determined by UV spectrophotometry and the entrapment efficiency was calculated.Results The free drugs and drugs entrapped in liposomes were separated by centrifugation 20 s at the speed of 1000 r/min by 6 times.The drug concentration and entrapment efficiency were calculated by UV spectrophotometry.Conclusion Low-speed centrifugation method could have the advantages of simple operation and accuracy and be suitable for determining the entrapment efficiency of chrysoph drugs in liposomes.
