Measurement of the ground-state spectroscopic quadrupole moment of 192Ir
1979
Abstract With the technique of nuclear magnetic resonance on oriented nuclei the hyperfine interaction of dilute 192 Ir in Fe and Ni has been investigated. The line width was reduced so far that the quadrupole splitting could be resolved. We obtain gμ N H hf /h = 166.771(4) MHz , e 2 qQ/h = 8.307(4) MHz for 192 Ir Ni and gμ N H hf / = 503.45(12) MHz , e 2 qQ/h = 15.74(37) MHz for 192 Ir Fe . Taking hyferfine anomalies into account the g -factor and the spectroscopic quadrupole moment of the ground state of 192 Ir are deduced to be g = 0.4786(24) and Q = 2.39(9) b, respectively.
