Component with micro-cooled laser deposited material layer and processes for preparing

There is provided a method of manufacture. The manufacturing method involves the use of a laser coating method to apply a laser material deposited on an outer surface of a substrate to form on the outer surface of a substrate one or more grooves. Each groove has a bottom and an opening and extends at least partially along the outer surface of the substrate, wherein the substrate has an inner surface that forms at least a hollow interior. The manufacturing method also includes the step of depositing an additional material over the laser deposited material to form one or more channels for cooling of the component. The additional material can include additional laser deposited material layers or a coating. In addition, other manufacturing method and a device are provided.
