Introduction to Teaching the Research Process

2021
The research process is central to academic political science, but we rarely reflect on how and why we teach the process the way we do. This introductory chapter communicates the rationale for creating this handbook, including discussing the diversity in how the research process is taught from the community college to doctoral levels and across diverse institutions. In addition to explaining the approach of this handbook, the chapter offers context on our diverse community of contributors. We hope the entire work will spark greater conversation about how and why we teach the research process in political science.
