Contactless Face Interface that Detects Users’ Facial Movements by Multiallocated Reflective Photo Sensor.

2011
We develop noncontact sensing technique to detect user"s facial movement, which allows users to use facial interface on several situations, such as a mask, face guard, stuffed animal suit and so on. Multiallocated photoreflectors on the mask type object measures user"s facial movement with no touch. This interface mainly could measure movement of user"s mouth, eye, eyebrow and cheek. In this paper, as its application, we developed and implemented our original actuator to stuffed suits that can move its actuators according to users’ facial movement. We shall argue possibilities of our sensing techniques and applications as a facial interface.
