Expectations towards policies for terminating pregnancy in immigrants from the State of Mexico

2021
Often family planning policies, including programs for legal termination of pregnancy, have been addressed by decision makers or those who implement them, but their effects have not been observed in users of public health services. The objective of this work was to specify a model for the study of the phenomenon, by establishing the reliability and validity of an instrument that measures three factors: design expectations, instrumentation and evaluation of assisted legal abortion. A non-experimental study was carried out with a non-probabilistic selection of 300 former migrants, considering the high 7% birth rate of the town of Huehuetoca, State of Mexico. From a structural model, 75% of the variance was explained, although spurious associations between the factors reveal the inclusion of another factor related to the effects of the program of assisted interruption of pregnancy. Therefore, the instrument can be used in public administration for the evaluation of confidence towards sexual and reproductive health policies, considering a scenario of migratory flows and the need for family planning.
