In Mexico, the prevalence of overweight and obesity in adults aged 20 years and over is 72.5 %. Among the main causes is a sedentary lifestyle and inadequate eating habits. In college students 40-50 % are physically inactive and have an inadequate intake of fruits and vegetables. The objective of this study was to recognize if there is a relation between the body mass index with the intake of fruits, vegetables and physical activity. We analyze the information of students between 18-25 years old primed income who participated in a multidisciplinary research on Obesity and Socio-Environmental Factors (“UP AMIGOS 2008"). Weight and height were measured, also they answered the Healthy Eating Index and questions related to physical activity. A descriptive analysis of the variables was carried out through measures of central tendency and dispersion. The difference of means between categorical samples was performed by chi-square test and logistic regression analyzes were performed for the associations. Total of 1559 students participated. The analysis showed that there were no significant associations between BMI and fruit and vegetable consumption or BMI and physical activity. In conclusion it is important to generate interventions that promote healthy lifestyles among university aspirants.
