Some improvements on a scattering chamber for PIXE

Abstract The chamber for routine PIXE measurements made at the J. Stefan Institute, Ljubljana is described. Some improvements regarding the electron shower and Faraday cup coating have been tested and proved to be useful in background suppression. Several applicative measurements have been made with this chamber and the cross-section measurements for L and M X-ray subshell production are in progress.
