Fouling Prevention and Cooling Enhancement with Twisted Strip in Heat Transfer Pipes

The self-rotating steel spiral inserted in heat transfer tubes has many advantages such as the strong ability to remove fouling automatically,great enhancement of heat transfer and simple structure and low cost,but it is difficult to solve the problems of wear and tear to bubes and that cleaning force moment is not large enough to make use in industry. This paper proposes a new way,in which the plastic twisted strip-inserts are used to solve the wear and tear problem and the special inlet bearing enlarges the cleaning force moment. The experiments show that such clean is effective and the new technology can be used in industry at low flowing velocity. The heat transfer enhancement is 52.6%. This is 60% more than steel spiral. In addition,the total resistance of equipment is not great.
