Microstructural and electrical influence of Ti-6Al-4V-modified copper alloy

Abstract This short communication proposes to characterize the influence of Ti–6Al–4V addition on Cu alloy. For this, Cu alloys with additions of 2, 4, and 6wt.% Ti–6Al–4V were manufactured. Morphological, structural and mechanical characterization were performed. Electrical tests demonstrated a decrease of conductivity due to the increase of Ti–6Al–4V in the composition and the presence of precipitates in the Cu alloys. Electrical measurements were performed using the Kelvin method. This methodology was found to be a successful approach to evaluate the influence of Ti–6Al–4V addition on Cu alloy. Furthermore, this method presents accurate results with high sensitivity and reliability.
