A bump-less multi-level PI controller for a boost converter
2014
The boost converter is a non-minimal phase system with a right-half-plane zero in the transfer function. Accordingly, a slow dynamic controller is designed to control the converter. This paper proposes a bump-less multi-level PI control scheme for a DC-DC boost converter which ensures stability over a wide range of operating conditions and at the same time offers a high dynamic performance. Extensive comparative simulations with a conventional PI controller are then carried out to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. Simulation results show the superior control performance of the multi-level PI controller over the simple PI controller.
