Women in technical and scientific fields: Results of a national survey

1993
A national survey of women employed by organizations involved with science and technology was conducted. The object of the survey was to determine the status of women and the types of problems they were encountering in what has traditionally been a male-dominated work force. The survey examined the environment in which women work, the relationship between women's personal lives and their work, and women's interpersonal communication styles. Some results parallel those of other surveys; other results run counter to those expected. Length of time in the workplace, salary, role and position in the workplace appear to be variables that determine women's attitudes toward and perceptives of the workplace.
