Sectorización ecoterritorial para la producción agrícola sostenible del cultivo de papa en Carabobo, Venezuela

2019
In Venezuela, a total of 5,4 % of the territory of agricultural use is dedicated to the production of roots and tubers, which corresponds to 93.677 hectares, of which an important production of potatoes is concentrated in the state of Carabobo; however, there are currently conflicts over the use of land. The objective of this research was to define suitable areas for the cultivation of potatoes (Solanum tuberosum) in the agricultural areas of the Carabobo state as an indispensable task for sustainable development. The zoning of the crop was based in the first place, in the analysis of the climatic factors, then in the analysis of the characteristics of the soil, in order to obtain the physical characterization of the different areas. Subsequently, the environmental demands of the crop were confronted, obtaining the sectorization of the areas of greater or less adaptability. The largest area corresponds to the areas with agricultural aptitude that occupy 337.0 km2, with the Libertador and Valencia municipalities having the highest proportion. This study is an instrument to achieve greater use of land in terms of economic, ecological and social sustainability.
