Study on Efficiency of Dust Suppression by Mist Spray and Its Matched Parameters

2006
Suppressing coal dust by pressured mist nozzle is simple in use. Through theoretical analysis, a correlation in-between the size of mist particulate and water pressure could be obtained. A correlation curve between the efficiency of dust suppression by mist spray and water pressure is obtained in order to fully use of this technology in on-site dust suppression. The result is exemplified and verified in the coal mine pit. It is concluded that nozzle with smaller calibre and higher pressured water should be used in order to obtain high suppression efficiency. The pressure should be controlled below 10MPa. Once this limit is exceeded, the efficiency would be raised very minute. If the water pressure is kept below 2MPa, the efficiency would not exceed 50%, and the water resource would be wasted. When the water consumption is limited, the calibre of the spray nozzle should be smaller or the number of nozzles used should be reduced in order to get higher spray pressure, in turn, to get higher dust suppression efficiency.
