The Study of Composite Scattering from the Target over a Randomly Rough Surface Using SAR/ISAR Imaging

2018
A model of the distribution of scattering centers resulting from the coupling between the target and the randomly rough surface is proposed to rapidly calculate composite scattering from electrically large complex target above a randomly rough surface. In contrast to the rough surface below the target is treated as a simple plane in the traditional four-path model, the presented model is obtained by taking into account multiple bounces and the non-ignorable roughness involved in the complex geometry of the composite scattering simultaneously. In the proposed model, the coupling scattering centers are distributed along a line which is approximately perpendicular to the incident direction. Moreover, given a finite range between the observation point and the target, the coupling scattering centers have deviation effect. The accuracy of the proposed model is fully demonstrated by the good agreements between the SAR/ISAR images and the predictions of the model.
