Reputation Audit in Multi-cloud Storage through Integrity Verification and Data Dynamics

2016
Multi-cloud storage is an emerging technique using a set of clouds to provide data storage service for clients cooperatively. Reliability reflects the risk of data on clouds to be damaged or tampered and is a basic consideration when choosing multi-cloud. However, there exists no work to help clients evaluate the reliability of cloud storage, which is an important consideration of choosing clouds. In this paper, we take the lead to propose the concept of reputation audit in multi-cloud storage, which makes such an evaluation a reality. To achieve a reputation audit scheme, we construct a framework and propose a concrete method based on integrity verification and data dynamics. The simulation results show that, by selecting and updating clouds based on the results of reputation audit, the reliability of multi-cloud storage service can be improved. Besides, we also show that the overhead of maintaining the reputation audit scheme is controllable.
