RELACIONES DE INTERDEPENDENCIA ENTRE RASGOS DE COMPORTAMIENTO E INDICES DIGESTIVOS EN CERDOS CUINOS MEXICANOS

2016
Interdependences among performance traits and rectal digestibility were determined in 14 Mexican cuino pigs with on average 60 kg live weight, females and castrated males, fattened ad libitum during four months with a diet of maize and soybean meal. The individuals were selected at random, were part of the pig herd of the University of Nayarit. They were housed in individual pens in an open building. Daily feed intake (between 1.31 and 2.21 kg DM) was correlated with daily gain (r. 0.858: P 0.01). Rectal digestibility of organic matter was correlated to that of DM (r, 0.624; P<0.05) and N (r, 0.802; P<0.001). A high variability was found in the examined representative sample. It is suggested that a population size higher than that evaluated could show significant interdependences among performance traits and rectal digestibility indices, with a higher confidence margin.
