Emissionskontrollierte, lösemittelfreie Verlegewerkstoffe für Bodenbeläge und Parkett

2002
The use of products described as solvent-free in accordance with TRGS (technical rules for hazardous substances) 610 Einsatz von Ersatzstoffen und Ersatzverfahren fur stark losemittelhaltige Vorstriche und Klebstoffe fur den Bodenbereich (Use of substitute substances and procedures for floor base coats and glues with a high solvent content) has made it possible to reduce the degree of workplace exposure to solvent fumes considerably for workers who lay parquet and other flooring. Yet these solvent-free base coats and glues are not free of emissions. They may certainly contain poorly volatile components in much smaller quantities than the highly volatile solvents. Yet these poorly volatile components are often released into the indoor air over a relatively long period. The EMICODE® concept is intended to make it possible to evaluate the emissions behaviour of these adhesives comparatively on a uniform basis and to avoid such long-term emissions. More than 400 very low emissions adhesives have already been licensed to carry the registered EMICODE® EC 1 emblem between 1997 and the end of 2000. This substantially reduced the emissions of chemical substances into the indoor air and into the environment.
