The thesis is about the conception of the human body in French literature from the XVIth to the XIXth century. Using chosen texts by Rabelais, Montaigne and Rousseau, we analyzed the conception of the body during Humanism, during the XVIIth century, with Descartes mechanical philosophy and finally, we described the new conception of the body in the XIXth century, through texts by Zola and Flaubert, in which the psychological and physiological dimension is very interesting.
