Empathy and interpersonal communication

AbstractA large part of the modernisation problem centres on literally changing minds that have accumulated the meanings, outlooks, values, and behavioural strategies appropriate for success in a traditional subsistence setting. It is believed that for change to occur, the individual in these settings must acquire the mental skill called empathy.
