Spiral structures in electrodeposited silver—antimony alloys

Abstract Spiral structures are observed on the surface of electrodeposited silver-antimony alloys when plating is carried out under limiting current conditions. The formation of the spiral structures occurs by the simultaneous crystallization of phases with different antimony content. AES investigations show the enrichment of antimony in the dark zones of the structure and the periodic character of this self-organization phenomenon.
