LGBT History Month 2018 Section 28: Abseiling Lesbians & Jenny Living with Eric and Martin

2018
The exhibition comprised of a collection of archival artefacts marking 30 years since the introduction of Section 28 (also known as Clause 28) of the Local Government Act on 24 May 1988 by the Thatcher Conservative Government, the legislation banning the ‘promotion of homosexuality’ in UK schools. The aim of the exhibition was to serve as a reminder of the progress that’s been made since the introduction and repeal of Section 28, but also the work that still needs to be done to address anti-gay legislation, prejudice and inequality experienced by LGBT+ people across the globe.
