The power coupling system of the electric vehicle comprises an engine (10), a generator (11), a starting motor (13), a clutch (20) and a driving motor (12), wherein the generator (11) is coaxially connected with the engine (10); the starting motor (13) is connected with the engine (10) and is used for starting the engine (10); the clutch (20) is arranged between the engine (10) and the generator (11); and the driving motor (12) is separately connected with the clutch (20) and a differential (30) through a speed change mechanism. According to the power coupling system of the electric vehicle and the control method of the power coupling system disclosed by the invention, various power requirements of the complete vehicle can be met.
