A fiber cantilever beam vibration sensor with air cavity based on intensity modulation

2021
Abstract An optical fiber cantilever beam (FCB) vibration sensor is proposed based on an air cavity (AC) composed with two single-mode fiber (SMF) ends. The measuring range is from 50 Hz to 192 kHz with the beam length of 12 mm, which achieves a resolution of 1.64 Hz. The structure of the sensor is simple and flexible, and it can reduce cross-sensitive of temperature. This sensor has potential applications in the fields of machinery, aerospace, and construction.
