ЛИНГВИСТИЧЕСКИЙ АНАЛИЗ КАТОЙКОНИМОВ НА МАТЕРИАЛЕ АРГЕНТИНСКОГО И ЧИЛИЙСКОГО НАЦИОНАЛЬНЫХ ВАРИАНТОВ ИСПАНСКОГО ЯЗЫКА

The present article analyses demonyms in Argentine and Chilean Spanish in a close correlation with the developing discipline linguistic geography. The denominative adjectives, also called demonyms when they obtain the meaning of a noun, are directly connected with toponymy. Toponymy often reflects geographical, historical and cultural features of places it denominates and has a significant role in lexicology of any language. We consider the results of the present investigation very useful as a fundament for new investigations in the same field, as they offer basic information about the insufficiently investigated lexical stratum of demonyms in Argentine and Chilean Spanish.
