Effect of active performance on skin - sportswear interface pressure

2019
The purpose of this article is to propose a model for the development of 3D interface pressure modelling. The analysis was done considering the athlete's shank 3D shape and sportswear pressure in the active muscle areas. The proposed pressure measurement system allows a qualitative and quantitative evaluation of the dependence of this pressure. Specific areas of sportswear usage require garment properly fit with an individual athlete. Coverage of close-fit garments can affect the athlete's range of motion and hinder to reach the peak of athletic achievement. Therefore, sportswear should preserve athletes ergonomic and pressure comfort. It is necessary to make changes in clothing patterns according to the parameters of the individual wearer to achieve these goals; furthermore, determination of such parameters is not just an anthropological task. The article overviews an example of a part of the leg - shank where various active body movements: abduction, adduction, dorsiflexion, plantar flexion, extension, and flexion, muscle contraction, and consequently shank anthropological parameters, that affect garment fit and pressure, are altered.
