Design and analysis of e-plane horn antenna array for linearly polarized SAR system on Light Surveillance Aircraft (LSA)

2021
In this paper, an E-plane horn antenna array is designed. This C-band antenna is planned to be mounted on the Light Surveillance Aircraft (LSA) for a linearly polarized synthetic aperture radar (LP-SAR) sensor. The antenna is a combination of four E-plane horn antenna elements and a center probe feed pi-junction rectangular waveguide feeding network. A method of moment (MoM) is exploited for optimizing the arrangement and reach a wide impedance bandwidth S11<-10 dB at the reference frequency (5.5 GHz). The half-power beam-width, S11 bandwidth, and gain simulation results show the antenna is favorable for the LP-SAR.
