This chapter reviews the anatomy, pathophysiology, and signs and symptoms of posterior circulation stroke. In addition, it will discuss the endovascular techniques used for the treatment of vertebrobasilar occlusive stroke. This chapter will help neurosurgeons, interventional radiologists, and interventional neurologists make appropriate treatment decisions in addressing the specific needs of patients with an acute basilar artery occlusion.
