E-band Microstrip Patch Array Antenna Based on Hybrid Feeding Network

2020
In this paper, a high-frequency broadband antenna array is presented, which uses a stacked structure with two identical dielectric layers. The lower layer is the SIW structure acting as feed network. The upper layer is the microstrip patch, each patch works as a radiation part. Thus, the whole array has tight coupling structure of hybrid networks. Simulation results show that performance of antenna arrays fed by hybrid networks is better than that of single-fed antenna arrays. For 2 × 2 sub-arrays, the simulated |S 11 | < -10 dB bandwidth is 75.9-79.1 GHz, and gain is in the range of 12.2-12.9 dB within the same bandwidth. For 4 × 4 antenna array, simulation bandwidth is 74.9-79.3 GHz, and gain is in the range of 18.6-19.1 dB within the same bandwidth, with 3dB beam width of 19° at 77 GHz.
