Chemical Constituents of Sarcophyton tortuosum

AIM: To study the chemical constituents of Sarcophyton tortuosum. METHODS: The chemical constituents were isolated and purified by various chromatographic techniques. Their structures were determined on the basis of physical properties and spectroscopic data. RESULTS: Five compounds were isolated and elucidated as brassicolide (1), emblide (2), methyl tortuoate A (3), methyl tortuoate B (4), and (24S)-24-methylcholestane-1, 3, 5, 6, 25-pentol 25-monoacetate (5). CONCLUSION: Compounds 1, 2 and 5 were isolated from this species for the first time.
