Place Attachment and Suffering During a Pandemic

Since the SARS-CoV-2 outbreak emerged in late 2019, loss has been part of the individual and collective experiences of people all over the world. Of principal concern has been the loss of life. At the time of writing, more than 2.5 million COVID-19 deaths had been reported worldwide since the first case of SARS-CoV-2 was confirmed (World Health Organization, 2021). However, the devastating health impact of COVID-19 has occurred in parallel with numerous other losses (Cowden et al., 2021a, 2021b).
