A MICRO-EVAPORATION SOURCE HEATED BY ELECTRON BOMBARDMENT AND ITS UTILIZATION FOR TARGET PREPARATION IN NUCLEAR PHYSICS

1964
Abstract A micro-evaporation source is described, which allows the evaporation of very small amounts of substance with good yields, for example in the preparation of isotope targets for nuclear physics experiments. A very small crucible with a small exit orifice is heated by electron bombardment. The heating circuitry, the temperature calibration curves for various crucible arrangements and an example of the attainable homogeneity of the evaporated films are included in the description.
