Newborn monitoring device designed to minimize false alarms arising as a result of the child's own movements, which comprises a pulse oximiter suitable for the newborn, which is characterized in that it furthermore comprises: a horizontal upper tray adapted to support a cradle in which the newborn is accommodated; at least one load cell on which the horizontal upper tray rests, for detecting changes in pressure arising from the movements of the newborn; and an alarm means configured such that it is triggered when there is simultaneously an inadequate signal from the pulse oximiter and the absence of movement on the part of the newborn.
