Application of Microsatellite Marker in Genetic Quality Detection of Inbred and Closed Colony

2008
To analyze the genetic quality of BALB/c and ICR mice from two units. The result showed that the BALB/c mice from Unit A was genetic contaminated, some of the mice were mutated in some microsatellite loci, and BALB/c mice from Unit B was coinci- dence with the expecting result of the standard BALB/c strain. The ayerage heterozygosity and polymorphism information content of 22 microsatellite loci of ICR mice from Unit A was 0.379 and 0.308 respectively, this indicated that ICR mice from Unit A was medium genetic diversity, and the average heterozygosity and polymorphism information content of ICR mice from Unit B was 0.287 and 0.227,this showed that ICR mice from Unit B was low genetic diversity. So themicrosatellite marker can not only detect the genetic quality of inbred mice, but can also analyze the genetic polymorphism of closed colony. The microsatellite marker is a potential mark- er for monitoring the genetic quality of laboratory animals.
