Optimum design of realtime visual sensors measuring linearity of steel pipe with variable diameters is presented in detail. Pair structuredlighting sensor increases the available contours of circle or ellipse and highly aligning accuracy is obtained obviously. Comparison with dentiform target calibration, Fiber calibration on structuredlighting sensor can not only meet the need of precise calibration, but also improve its simplicity, efficiency and practicability greatly.
