A Quantitative Disc Radioimmunoassay for Antibodies Directed Against Membrane-Associated Antigens

The antigens coded for by the major histocompatibility locus are found to exist in cells associated with membranes. As a consequence a number of radioimmunoassays have been developed using whole cells as the immunoadsorbent (1, 2). There are several disadvantages in using whole cells, among them being non-reproducibility of creating monolayers of cells in microtiter plates with adhering cells and the need to centrifuge plates if lymphoid, non-adherent cells are being used.
