Investigation of new inorganic materials for homogeneous electromagnetic calorimeters

Abstract A series of new inorganic scintillators, CdF 2 :Eu and CdF 2 :Tm, with their decay times 1.3–6 ns, light yields 0.4–1.0% of NaI(Tl) and radiation resistance above 10 6 –10 8 rad, is presented in this paper. Preliminary results of the influence of constant electromagnetic and hadronic as well as of intense pulsed irradiation on the properties of optical materials are presented.
