Design of Boom-Type Roadheader Remote Monitoring and Control System

Boom-type roadheader for partial section is the most essential equipment for galley heading and coal mining integration. Its valid remote monitoring and control system can ensure durative production in efficiency and safety way. According to multiple laser rangefinders configuration, the control strategy of position and orientation for the roadheader body is constructed. Meanwhile, a reliable mathematical model of cutting section is established based on hydraulic transmission mechanisms of the roadheader. Consequently, the hardware and software based on Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) for the remote monitoring and control system is developed. The system can not only monitor and control cutting section automatically, but also is adaptive extreme bad environment of coal mining. Application on-site shows that the developed system can greatly improve safety and comfortableness in the coal mining scene.
