Research on the bioactivities of C60-dexamethasone.

2009
: The bioactivities, including the anti-inflammatory activity and influences on the learning function and the immunosuppression activity, of C60-dexamethasone have been studied in mice and compared with those of dexamethasone. C60-dexamethasone and dexamethasone were administered orally at dosage of 30 micromol/kg x d. The experiments showed that C60-dexamethasone retained the anti-inflammatory activity. On the other side the influences of C60-dexamethasone on the learning function and the immunosuppression activity were much lower than that of dexamethasone. The scavenging test for lipophilic DPPH free radical indicated that C60-dexamethasone was an efficient free radical remover or antioxidant, which was responsible for the reduction of side effects of C60-dexamethasone.
