Cooperative Automotive Radar System for Inter-Radar Interference Avoidance

2019
The increasing penetration rate of the automotive millimeter-wave radars makes the mutual interference among radars a crucial problem, especially in the densely deployed situations. Existing passive countermeasure techniques for inter-radar interference have limited effects and high complexity in such situations. We propose the concept of cooperative automotive radar, which eliminates inter-radar interference through the active coordination of radar waveform, time/frequency resources and spatial configurations, to achieve high detection performance in limited bandwidth with less complexity at the receiver, and eventually improve the driving safety and comfort.
