High gain tunable stacked antenna using soft FeCo nanoparticles

2016
A high gain tunable annular ring antenna structure for WiFi bands are reported by stacking passive elements over an active element realized on magneto-dielectric composite substrate. The composite substrate of active antenna is realized by utilizing the FeCo soft magnetic nanoparticles on commercial available FR4 dielectric and the superstrates are processed using Honeycomb structure. The key features of low coercivity FeCo cubic nanoparticles of 40nm are a relatively high permeability, low loss, and high saturation magnetic moment that effectively results in over 100MHz tuning per 100mT of applied magnetic field. The purpose of this paper is addressing the solution for increasing the low gain and bandwidth that has been accomplished for the single substrate printed circuit antennas. The Finite Element Method (FEM) computational method is used for design and performance optimization to achieve gain.
