Dynamic analysis of thermal degradation of basin-type insulator

2019
Gas-insulated-switchgears (GIS) has been widely used in power system. Among them, basin insulators have been aging and degrading under the action of electrothermal stress for a long time, which may lead to major accidents in serious cases. The aging and degradation of basin-type insulators is actually a chemical reaction process, so it is of great significance to study the thermal decomposition process of basin-type insulators. Based on the principle of thermal analysis dynamics, the thermal decomposition process of basin insulators at five different heating rates was analyzed by thermogravimetric method. The activation energy of basin insulators was calculated by Flynn-Wall-Ozawa method and Kissinger method. The results show that the Kissinger method and the Flynn-Wall-Ozwa method are basically consistent in the calculation results, and the Coast-Redfern method is used to predict that the reaction mechanism function followed by thermal degradation of basin insulators is $f(\alpha)=(1-\alpha)^{4}$. The above research has certain guiding significance for accurately understanding the thermal degradation process of the basin-type insulator and laying a certain foundation for revealing the aging mechanism and evaluating the aging degree.
