Consideration of the Cumulative Flicker Effects of Multiple Pieces of Energy Producing Equipment

2018
The purpose of this paper is to partially disseminate the present status of ongoing work in IEC Technical Committee 77, Subcommittee 77A, Working Group 2, “Voltage Fluctuations.” This work is presently focused on the development of a new product-family standard intended to limit the voltage fluctuations produced by energy producing equipment and it is intended to replace parts of the existing (to be withdrawn) IEC Technical Report 61000-3-15. The new proposed standard, IEC Standard 61000-3-17, will be applicable to energy producing equipment connected to the public low-voltage network and producing a current of 75 A or less and it is intended that the new standard follows the same general framework as other product family standards for energy consuming equipment such as IEC Standard 61000-3-11.
